How to dye brunette streaks into your hair

Brunette on bleached blonde hair is one of this year’s hottest looks… And we don’t mean colour correction, we’re talking about a daring new direction.

While this isn't the same thing as "low lights" the same concept can be applied to give your light blonde hair more dimensions.

How to dye brunette streaks
Meet Ashley

Meet Ashley! She’s looking to upcycle her blonde with a bit of temporary brunette. She has naturally thick straight hair, so a few light brown streaks should add a bit of dimension to her hair. Think of it like a chunky lowlight

Step 1: Section the hair

Begin with parting a block at the top of your head, temple to temple.

Step 2: Comb and prepare

Comb the hair you’ve blocked out and prepare it for dyeing.

Step 3: Slice Section

Slice your block horizontally, creating even segments.

Step 4: Clip and save

Clip your sections away for later.

Step 5: Protect the blonde

Apply reincarnation mask to the sections you want to keep blonde, so the brunette doesn’t bleed.

Step 6: Apply to Sections

Apply Instant Coffee to alternate partings, using cling film to separate.

Keep Slicing and applying

Something’s brewing!

Step 7: Rinse

Leave colour on for 30 minutes before rinsing with cool water.

Finished Look

And there you have it, a winning streak of luxe brunette to brighten up your blonde!
