Natural Blonde/Grey Hair Questions

My hair is naturally silver/white/grey - will any of the Bleach London Super Cool Colours, Toners or Colour Shampoos show on my hair?

Grey or silver hair is generally quite resistant to temporary or direct non-oxidising semi-permanent colours. This includes our coloured shampoos and our Bleach London Super Cool Colours. Our Bleach London toners may have an effect on natural hair.

The best way to know if your colour of choice will have an effect is to do a strand test, as this will indicate the colour result.  The deeper, more vibrant colours will likely have the strongest result. If your hair is quite resistant then it may need to be bleached a bit to allow the cuticle layer of the hair to open up a bit.

The toning Bleach London Silver and Pearlescent shampoos will also help to knock out creeping yellow tones and keep your silver looking bright.

My hair is naturally very light blonde and it goes lighter in the sun. When I use Bleach London Super Cool Colours or Colour Shampoos they don’t show up. Does my hair need to be bleached?

Sometimes naturally light blonde hair, even if it goes to a very pale yellow after spending time in the sun, can still be resistant to semi-permanent and temporary colours. When the hair is resistant, it means that the cuticle layer (the invisible outer layer of the hair) is very closed and non-oxidising direct semi-permanent and temporary colours (our Super Cool Colours, coloured shampoos and conditioners) will just sit on top of that layer and not penetrate to where they need to sit just underneath the hair shaft. Lightening the hair gently with either Bleach London Plex Bleach or Bleach London No Bleach Bleach will lighten the hair enough and open up the cuticle layer slightly which will allow these sorts of colours to show.
