Bleaching Questions

My hair is naturally black - how can I make my hair white?

This is one of the most difficult bleaching processes and would advise visiting a Bleach London salon. In order to make your hair white you will need to bleach your hair to the palest yellow possible and then tone your hair to white. The products you will need are Bleach London Total Bleach, White Toner and Silver shampoo and conditioner. Always do a strand test before using any of the products to check the results before colouring all over.

I have highlights or balayage and I want to go blonde all over. How can I do this safely?

This is a difficult process and if you don’t feel confident doing it, we suggest calling one of our Bleach London salons or speaking to a professional hair-dresser. We recommend mixing a sachet of Bleach London Alex-Plex  with Bleach London Total Bleach or using Plex Bleach on your natural hair. Section your hair into four.  Apply the bleach 2cm from the scalp, down to the end of the hair, but leave out the sections that are already blonde to avoid over processing. Once this is done apply the bleach to the roots and develop for the usual time.  When the hair is around 5 minutes from being ready to rinse, apply the remaining bleach onto the already existing blonde parts which have been left out to gently ‘cleanse’ and lighten them. Your hair will have multi-tones, even after being toned but these will even out over time. Warmer sections can be lightened after 6 weeks when the roots are ready to bleach again. It is important to always to a strand test before bleaching to check the condition and colour of the hair.

I have medium brown hair and I want a complete change. I want to go blonde and then pastel pink. Where do I start?

Lighten your hair to a very pale yellow blonde (like the inside of a banana skin) using Bleach London Total Bleach or Bleach London Plex Bleach if your hair is very fine. Your hair will need to be toned to help even out the colour and create a nice base - use Bleach London Rosé Toner for this. Finally, use Rosé Super Cool Colour for a perfect pastel pink. To maintain the colour, use Rosé Shampoo and Conditioner once per week to help maintain a pale pink tinge in your hair. It is important to always to a strand test before bleaching to check the condition and colour of the hair.

I have medium brown hair and I want a complete change. I want to go blonde and then silver. Where do I start?

Lighten your hair to a very pale yellow blonde (like the inside of a banana skin) using Beach London Total Bleach or Bleach London Plex Bleach if your hair is very fine. Then your hair will need to be toned to help even out the colour and create a nice base - use White Toner for this. To maintain, use Bleach London Silver Shampoo and Bleach London Conditioner once per week to help maintain a silver tone in your hair. It is important to always to a strand test before bleaching to check the condition and colour of the hair.

I have mid brown hair and I want a complete change. I want to go blonde and then be able to change between colours easily. Where do I start and what’s the best way to change colours?

Lighten your hair to a very pale yellow blonde (like the inside of a banana skin) using Bleach London Total Bleach or Bleach London Plex Bleach if your hair is very fine. Your hair will need to be toned to help even out the colour and create a nice base - use Bleach London White Toner for this. Finally, use the Bleach London Super Cool Colour of your choice. Starting off with pastel colours in pinks and peaches mean the colours can be changed easily. Light purples wash out back to blonde too. Blue based colours last a long time and can leave a green stain but neutralising with Bleach London Super Cool pink or Bleach London Rosé Shampoo  will return your hair to a pinky purple. It is important to always to a strand test before bleaching to check the condition and colour of the hair.

No Bleach Bleach Questions

My hair has been dyed with a semi or permanent brown tint - can I use Bleach London No Bleach Bleach to lighten my hair?

No. Bleach London No Bleach Bleach is a high-lifting tint which works differently to bleach. Bleach can strip out all colour and lighten hair, whereas high-lift tint can only lighten hair and cannot strip out colour. We recommend Bleach London No Bleach Bleach for hair that has not been dyed.

I have been bleaching my hair for ages and now I want to switch to using No Bleach Bleach. How can I do this without my roots looking really orange?

Your roots will look warmer the first few times you do this because Bleach London No Bleach Bleach is a high-lift tint which retains warmth as the hair is lightened. The best way to overcome this is to make your mid-lengths and ends warmer too.  This will help even out the colour. We suggest Bleach London  Awkward Peach shampoo and conditioner to do this.

I’ve been lightening my hair gradually and trying to go blonde from a dark tint I had on my hair. Now my roots are looking much lighter than my ends, can I use Bleach London No Bleach Bleach to lighten my ends?

No because Bleach London No Bleach Bleach is a high-lift tint which can only lift virgin, uncoloured hair. Try using Bleach London Plex Bleach for a very short amount of time on your ends to help lift up the old colour and even out your blonde. It is important to always to a strand test before bleaching to check the condition and colour of the hair.
