Do I need to bleach my hair to use semi-permanent colours?

Probably, yes! Whether you have black hair, grey hair or any other colour but a very light natural blonde, you need to bleach your hair. Do a strand test before bleaching your hair at home for the best indication of how your hair will react to the bleaching process. 

Why do I need to tone my hair after bleaching?

If you want to go blonde or add a colour to your hair, it’s important to use a toner that neutralises the brassy yellows or works with the warmer tones of a fresh bleach, which can impact how your colour shows up. Toner helps to even your bleach out and creates a clean base for applying colour.

Will semi-permanent dyes damage or stain my hair?

All of our Super Cool Colours are conditioner based, so they’re gentle and help to nourish when you colour. Most of our colours eventually wash out back to blonde, just check the bottle for how long the colour lasts for an indication.

Can I mix your hair colours together?

Yes! All of our colours can be mixed together, but avoid mixing any that could neutralise the other or you'll end up with a murky shade! A good rule to follow is: don't mix a green colour with a red colour or a yellow colour with a purple colour. Read our stylist advice for mixing your custom colour here. 

How do I freshen up my hair colour, and do I have to use bleach to change hair colours?

Mix your Super Cool Colour with conditioner or Reincarnation Mask and apply once a week to maintain your shade, or use one of our colour-toning shampoo and conditioners in the matching shade. Do not re-bleach your hair to switch colours! Let your colour fade as much as possible and do a strand test to see if adding your desired dye on top will get the colour you want.
