How to dye your hair blonde at home

Tips from the Bleach experts on getting a rooty, laid-back blonde

What you’ll need:

How to prepare:

STEP 1: BLEACH

First, lighten your hair using our Total Bleach Kit.

  1. Divide your hair into four sections and secure it.

  2. Back comb the roots of each section so that it will give a slightly blended root – the more backcombing the more blended it will seem, less backcombing the more of a dramatic line will be.

  3. Use a tint brush to section out thin slices of hair and apply your bleach mixture liberally on to the ends.

  4. Gently massage it in as you go to make sure every hair is coated in bleach.

  5. Work through your whole head. Slice. Bleach. Massage. Repeat!

  6. Let the bleach develop for 40-60 minutes, or until the hair has lightened enough.

  7. Once you’re done, rinse until the water runs clear then shampoo twice and gently towel dry. Now it’s time to tone!

Step 2: TONER

Champagne Super Toner neutralises brassy bleach yellows and balances out your blonde for a nice creamy blonde base.

  1. Centre-part your towel-dried hair and apply the toner mixture to the warmest/yellowest bits of your bleached hair first, then do the rest.

  2. Remember to saturate and smoosh!

  3. Let your hair develop for 10-20 minutes, then rinse with cool water and condition with Reincarnation Mask for added nourishment.
