After years of emails, meetings, hope and heartbreak, it was the honour of our lives to finally preview Bleach LA last week.
With final touches still being made to the new salon, guests were welcomed through an unmarked opening in the black scaffolding on West 3rd Street, stepping foot onto the green goo epoxy floor for the first time.
Entering through the other-worldly ASMR shopfront, they’d ascend the ramp and step behind a two-way mirror to see the four chair salon in all its minimalist sci-fi glory, stopping for a selfie at the show stopping sink, carved out of black stone by Wrinkle MX, with each piece so heavy it took six people to lift.

MAAD and Samantha Urbani kept the tunes going all night, with the dance floor aided by a seemingly unending supply of Bleach themed cocktails, including Gobby Pink and Lavender Vida Loca made with Tepozan tequila.
Some of our favourite artists and producers, like Charli XCX and Rodaidh McDonald mingled with up and comers including Boys World and Wallice, with some of Gen Z’s looks reassuring us that the future of hair colour is in safe hands.
By the time the afterparty at the Sunset Marquis was over, we just wanted to do it all again. It had been a long time coming, but as the mural on the night announced - the area just got a whole lot hairier…
